Showjumping to celebrate New Year in Liverpool city centre

  • Bolesworth International is to expand and host a new show — to be held in Liverpool in January.

The new show will be run at three-star level and will be held at the Echo Arena in the Albert Dock area of the city from 1-3 January 2016.

“I’m very excited to have secured one of the UK’s premier indoor venues to host a unique new international show, which will kick-off with a New Year’s Eve party followed by afternoon and evening performances on all three days,” organiser and founder Nina Barbour told H&H.

Meanwhile, Bolesworth also has plans to expand its international Cheshire show.

The show is set to include a freestyle dressage competition and puissance this year (18-21 June).

Bolesworth International was run for the first time in 2014 and received rave reviews from riders, owners and the media. It has been upgraded to a four-star event this year and Nina hopes to boost this further.

“We have had a fantastic response to this year’s four-star show with a lot of interest from top foreign riders. We plan to consolidate at four-star level in 2016, before stepping up to five-star in 2017,” she said.

Riders confirmed for this year’s event include William Whitaker, Nick Skelton and Jessica Springsteen.

“Bolesworth International is a world-class venue, it’s one of the best shows I’ve jumped at and to have a new CSI4* in Britain is exciting,” said William.

“Winning the Redrow Grand Prix at last year’s event was special, the arena is unique and the surroundings are spectacular. The whole event is so welcoming, the show has left an impressive mark on the equestrian calendar, and it will continue to go from strength to strength.”
