  • Six university equestrian teams recently competed at the British University Sports Association (BUSA) Championships.

In second place were University College London (UCL) while Royal Agricultural College (RAC) were third.

Winning Leeds team member Charlotte Ambrose told H&H: “We’re very pleased to have won. We put in a lot of training to get through to the finals and didn’t expect to win at all.”

The Championships were held at Arena UK in Grantham, Lincolnshire from 1-3 April.

During the competition riders have to take part in dressage and show jumping rounds on horses allocated to them just a few minutes beforehand.

Both the Leeds University A and B teams made it through to their respective finals by winning both local and regional qualifiers.

In the winning A team were students Hannah Patchitt, Philippa Castro, Charlotte Ambrose and Lottie Bullock

Leeds B team, made up of Vicky Milburn, Lucy Ibbotson, Emily Verrill and Rosie Upstill finished in second place in their final.
