Hartpury College to “downsize” its stud operation

  • Hartpury College is “downsizing” its stud operation and closing Home Farm Stud due to financial issues.

Some of the stud’s 30 horses will be moved to the main yard, while others are in the process of being sold.

“We believe we can make efficiency gains in our stud operation with little impact upon our equine breeding students‘ learning experience, by using the retirement of Ragazzo to downsize the stud operation,” said Hartpury’s Malcolm Wharton.

“We are looking, as part of the relocation, to sell some of the stock and relocate the unsold stock on to the main yard.

“We will continue to stand Take It 2 The Limit, Bernwode Benedict, Derby and Valesco, working alongside neighbouring studs and The National Stud to provide an outstanding learning experience.”
