Graham Cory leaves British Horse Society suddenly
Mystery surrounds the sudden resignation of British Horse Society (BHS) boss Graham Cory.
The BHS released a terse statement late on 24 September, saying: “After serving the BHS for more than eight years as chief executive and company secretary, Graham Cory has decided to leave.
“The society thanks him for his service and wishes him well for the future.”
But it refused to reveal more. A spokesman said: “We do not discuss internal matters.”
And Mr Cory was similarly brief, telling H&H he left on Friday, 21 September, and plans to pursue a PhD.
Former BHS chairman Patrick Print told H&H: “Graham has done a fantastic job. He has built the new BHS headquarters [opened by the Princess Royal in February 2011] and has decided to move on to pastures new. I would not read anything else into it.”
Mr Cory’s is the second sudden resignation from the BHS in four months.

Mr Print’s successor Dr Phil Wadey left in May citing work commitments.
The current chairman is Lynn Petersen, who oversaw the society’s modernisation programme.
