Equus – The Horse Event, which has appealed to equestrian enthusiasts of all levels in the past and was scheduled to return to the ExCel centre in the centre of London’s Docklands in April, has been postponed.
Event organisers TJW Exhibitions Ltd purchased Equus last autumn and had hoped to have the event up and running successfully this year, but cite a lack of time to do it justice as the principal reason for its postponement.
Tim Walsh, chairman of TJW, explains: “We took over the event at very short notice, and, although we thought we would have enough time to fulfil our objectives, this proved not to be the case.
“We are very disappointed that it is taking longer than expected to produce the successful show we would like. We are very committed to the event and look forward to setting another date for it.
“I would like to thank everyone who supports the show, and look forward to working with as many of them as possible in the future.”
Simon Hare, publisher of Horse & Hound, HORSE and Eventing, which sponsored the event, says: “Obviously I am very disappointed that Equus has been postponed until 2005. The concept of staging an event such as Equus, in London’s Docklands is quite unique and is a great mix of attractions for all levels of riders. However, it seems that there is simply not enough time to make this a truly great event.”
TJW Exhibitions say that all tickets purchased for the event “will be refunded in due course”. HHO will keep readers informed of how to go about claiming refunds as and when details become available.
