  • Dig out those leotards and sweatbands — and work out to music with your horse.

Well, not quite, you’ll still need appropriate riding attire.

A new CD has been launched that promises to help riders and their horses improve their fitness and keep exercise exciting.

The “workouts”, cost £25 and include Latin jazz, indie, blues and authentic rock with vocal instructions for transitions.

But H&H suspects it might be the most needless invention since the banana hook.

It is pitched as ideal for working riders, with the four 20-45min workouts manageable in a lunch break and before or after work.

The Musical Ride company was set up earlier this year by Hannah Freeman.

“I was looking for a workout that was interesting but could be done quickly,” she said. “Music can change our mood as well as increasing endurance and confidence.”

While many of us relish a peaceful ride interrupted only by hoofbeats, perhaps the iPod generation will love this…
