Careers event: working in equestrian media

  • Whether you want to work in equestrian media or further your career in the industry, don't miss Horse & Hound's careers events in 2014

Horse & Hound is holding two new careers events in early 2014 — “An introduction to working in equestrian media” (18 February), and “How to further your career in equestrian media” (22 April).

Both events run from 9am to 2pm and take place at the Blue Fin Building, 110 Southwark Street, London, SE1 0SU.

February’s event is aimed at those in further education who want advice on securing their first job in the industry. Presentations will also be relevant to sixth formers who are interested in working in equestrian media and want to find out exactly what’s involved and what different roles exist.

April’s event is designed for journalism graduates and those with some experience in the industry who want to secure more work or move their career forward.

At both events, industry experts including Horse & Hound editor Lucy Higginson and website editor Carol Phillips will give invaluable insights into working in the industry.

Talks at February’s event include: Landing your first job in equestrian media — from study to work experience, internships to interviews and Promote yourself — best practice for using blogs and social media.

Presentations at April’s event include: Creating compelling content — what makes a great feature,” and How to future-proof your career as an equestrian journalist.

Each speaker will welcome questions and during the coffee break candidates will have the opportunity to meet with a number of Horse & Hound staff working in different areas of the business.
