Tickets are now on sale for Ireland’s first Equus Live event, to be held indoors at Punchestown racecourse this autumn (2-3 November).
The organisers are hoping to promote several breeds and disciplines of equestrianism, with displays, demonstrations, competitions and master-classes with leading riders. The schedule and celebrities involved will be announced over the coming months.
There will also be a shopping village, with more than 100 exhibitors, a Kids Zone and a “Speakers Corner”, where visitors can meet industry leaders. Organisers expect that the event will be a “platform for companies to launch new products to the market”.
Amber Byrne, who is organising the event with Joanne Quirke, said that Ireland is a “niche target market for all things equine”.
“According to industry research, there are 40,000 visitors to Ireland annually for equestrian-related events and 80,000 for thoroughbred sales and racing,” she said. “These figures suggest a real interest in all things equine. We want to create a fun equestrian experience, a one-stop shop to see everything horse-related under one roof.”
Dick O’Sullivan of Punchestown racecourse, said: “It is fantastic to see and event like this coming to Ireland, Kildare and of course Punchestown. It will be great to see the sport horse and thoroughbred sectors promoted together.”
Tickets start at €10 for adults, €5 for 12-17 year olds; free for under-12s. No charge for demonstrations, master-classes or Kids Zone.
