Scottish five-star event rider Louisa Milne Home is in hospital in a stable condition after a fall on Friday (27 February).
The accident happened at a British Showjumping (BS) competition at Bogenraith Equestrian in Aberdeenshire.
A statement on Louisa’s Facebook page said: “As many of you are aware Louisa suffered a fall on Friday whilst competing at Bogenraith. Louisa remains in a stable condition at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary under the very best of care.
“We will update on this page as and when we have more information.
“Louisa’s family truly appreciate each and every message of concern and offer of help at this time.”
A statement from BS confirmed Louisa Milne Home had had a fall while warming up for a BS competition at Bogenraith.
The statement added: “Our thoughts are with Louisa, her family and friends at this time, and everyone at British Showjumping, together with the team at Bogenraith Equestrian, wish her a full and speedy recovery.”
Louisa is based in Kinross and is best known for her partnership with the loveable grey giant King Eider, known as Duck. The pair became stalwarts of the British five-star scene, completing Badminton Horse Trials three times and Burghley Horse Trials four times. Their best results were finishing 27th at Burghley in 2013 and 2014.
They also finished 19th in their first five-star together, at Luhmühlen Horse Trials in 2011.
Louisa, 46, has continued to compete up to four-star level since Duck’s retirement from the sport after Badminton in 2019. Last season she rode Twisted Girl Z at British Eventing grassroots level and Future Plans up to two-star level, finishing second in the CCI2*-S at Belsay with the palomino gelding.
