£100,000 financial boost for XC courses

  • Some of Britain’s top Intermediate and Advanced level cross-country courses are about to get a makeover. The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials and British Eventing are working together to raise the quality of cross-country courses at Burghley’s qualifying events and have pledged £100,000 towards their improvement. Grants worth up to £2,000 are now available to courses of CIC** standard and above.

Both the organisers of Burghley Horse Trials and British Eventing recognise the importance of high quality qualifying competitions to ensure that riders and horses can reach the top of their careers. Elizabeth Inman, Director of The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials said “We have decided to reinvest back into the sport at these qualifying competitions to help them maintain the high standards required to keep our horses and riders at the top of the international tree.”

Applications are to be made via the event’s regional director and are subject to approval of the planned investment.

Money will be allocated to events at the following levels:

    Advanced Events up to £2,000

CIC***/CCI*** (except BE owned events) up to £1,500

    Intermediate Events up to £1,000

CIC**/CCI** (unless already supported by BE) up to £1,000
