What’s in this week’s Horse & Hound, in shops from Thursday 23 July
Following the heartbreaking news that two riders lost their lives competing affiliated horse trials on Saturday 18 July, we decided to hold fellow event rider Harry Meade’s planned guest edit as a mark of respect to Sophie Fouracre and Kerry Donoghue. Our thoughts remain with their families and friends. Harry Meade’s special issue will be published in September.
Instead this week’s edition of Horse & Hound, in shops from Thursday 23 July, features William Whitaker and his Hickstead Derby victor Flamboyant III as our cover star. Inside William talks us through his epic win. We also detail the major reforms proposed for the veterinary sector, the protection confirmed for Dartmoor hill ponies and more in our news pages.
Hear from Mark Philips and Chris Smith on hot topics in eventing and showjumping and read our in-depth analysis of champion Connemara Castle Comet as a legend of the sport.
In this week’s Vet Clinic, we cover everything horse buyers should look for. We also take a peek at eyecatching equestrian properties and discuss horses’ social lives in the magazine. This week’s foal file is Harry Meade’s eventing star Annaghmore Valoner.
As ever, enjoy in-depth reports from the latest fixtures, including the Great Yorkshire Show, Project Pony Aston-le-Walls and much, much more. There are many other articles for equestrians to enjoy inside – see a more detailed breakdown below.
