Experienced British driving squad selected for Europeans
Three British drivers have been selected for the squad for the FEI European Championships.
They are:
- Karen Bassett, 51, from Nottinghamshire
- Wilf Bowman-Ripley, 46, from Essex
- Dick Lane, 53, from Surrey
All three will all head to Aachen later this month (19-22 August) for the competition.
Karen, Wilf and Dick have all represented Britain at a championships before, so Team GBR is sending an experienced squad.
“I’ve been out to Aachen to watch the driving and it is a very impressive arena, the competition will be very strong with a big atmosphere and really good crowds,” said British chef d’equipe Zoe Morgan.
“Wilf has had excellent preparation having been competing internationally across Europe with really good placings, so backed up by Karen and Dick we will be hoping for a medal.”
Horses for the four-in-hand event will be announced at a later date.

The three drivers will contest the team event, where all three scores count towards the overall team result; all three athletes also compete as individuals at the Championships.
The FEI European Championships kick off next week (11 August) with the dressage. Showjumping, vaulting and reining.
