Blair Europeans’ countdown diary: 8 weeks to go
We had a productive steering group meeting last week which was a great opportunity to have UK Sport, EventScotland and British Eventing all together at Blair Castle to ensure that everything has been covered ahead of the Longines FEI European Eventing Championship 2015.
On the cross-country course front, the Blair 2015 team have been busy building the fences and using their creativity to interpret course designer, Ian Stark’s designs.
No doubt they will be grateful for the two JCBs which are coming from Scott JCB on Monday to help fix the fences in place. The weather has been fairly damp so the grass is forever growing which is great, but we have to furiously mow everything on site. Additionally the estate farm have cut and lifted the silage from the cross country-course.
It’s exciting news that our sponsors Joules will soon be sending their official event clothing so we have spent time allocating the clothing to the Blair 2015 officials and volunteer team. Don’t worry, the whole family can get their Joules fix at Blair Castle. The official Blair 2015 clothing range will be on sale at the event in September and on Joules’ online shop.
We hope you will be joining us to experience Blair 2015. Our membership sales have been flying and are now full, but there are still general admission and grandstand tickets so if you wish to get a good seat to watch the action, book your tickets now.
The British Eventing BE90 and BE100 Arena Eventing Championship sponsored by Kent & Masters and Open Intermediate Arena Eventing will take place on Wednesday 9 September at Blair Castle. It is the first time that we have run this at Blair and entries are now open; the stables are filling up fast. Make sure you book your stabling and enter soon to avoid disappointment.
In the office, to keep us working at optimum efficiency we have been taking it in turns to bake. This week we have had Victoria sponge and lemon drizzle cake to keep us going… pictures were to follow but sorry it’s all been eaten!
