New sponsor for Best of British Foals Show

  • For the first time since its inception three years ago, the Best of British Foal Show has attracted Amlin Plus as its official title sponsor.

The show, which takes place on the 14 August at Addington Manor as part of Brightwells Summer Gala Auction of Dressage Horses and Breeding Mares, was first introduced in 2001 to promote and create awareness of the quality of Sport Horses being bred in Great Britain.

Foals born in Great Britain this year are eligible for the show, which splits them according to age and sex. They are then judged on the following:

    • type
    • frame
    • conformation
    • movement
    • overall impression

Foals are initially shown in-hand alongside their mothers, and are then shown loose, “which can be a bit chaotic, but it’s an amazing sight”, explains Sarah Davies of Brightwells auctioneers.

Amlin Plus is a leading underwriter in the equestrian world, and director David Ashby was very optimistic about the new partnership: “We are very excited about sponsoring the Best British Foal Show 2004.

“Foals are the seed corn of our account of high value dressage horses and we get great pleasure from watching the foals we insure develop into top quality performance horses, especially if they are bred in this country,” he added.

  • Entries for the Best British Foal Show close on 28 June. For further information contact Sarah Davies at Brightwells Auctioneers (tel: 01568 619777)
