Wills Oakden

Wills is an international event rider.

Based in Fife, Scotland, Wills runs his own event yard from his family farm which he set up in 2009.

Wills’ first taste of representing his country came in 2011 at the young rider European eventing championships at Blair Castle riding Button Clover. Here the pair contributed to a team gold medal.

Wills has since gone on to enjoy success across the levels, having his one and only crack at a CCI4* in 2013 riding McFly at Pau.

Wills worked for former event rider and cross-country course designer Ian Stark for three years between 2006 and 2009, where he was lucky enough to travel the world with his boss.

In 2014 Wills was 2nd in the CIC3* Scottish Open Championships at Blair Castle riding Greystone Midnight Melody, 6th at Bramham CCI3*U25 on Alfi Brown and was the highest placed under-25 rider in the CIC3* at Chatsworth.

In 2015 Will was 7th in the CCI3* at Tattersalls riding Greystone Midnight Melody. These consistent performances were enough for this combination to be selected as second reserves for the British European eventing championships squad. Following the removal of one squad member and the first reserve suffereing a setback in fitness preparation, Wills and Greystone Midnight Melody were given the call up to the squad.
