  • BRITAIN’S national female champion vaulter, Joanne Eccles, is in fourth position on 7,442, after the first round of the individual competition at WEG today.

In the lead is Germany’s Anja Barwig (7,852), with Austria’s Tristyn Lowe (7,535) in second place and Sabrina Mettler (7,502), from Switzerland, in third.

Last night, France’s Matthias Lang took first place in the men’s individual after the compulsory test, followed by Germany’s Kai Vorberg and Tim-Randy Sia, also from Germany, in third. The men’s first round freestyle takes place this evening, with the finals for both male and female individual on Sunday.

John Eccles, team trainer and lunger for the British team said they are set to “bring the house down” tomorrow in the freestyle team competition. Their sequence is set to music by Robbie Williams.
