Alan Titchmarsh names David Broome “national treasure”

  • It’s official: David Broome is a national treasure.

The veteran Welsh show jumper, who rode at six Olympic Games for Great Britain, has been given a “national treasure” award by ITV’s Alan Titchmarsh Show.

David, who lives at Crick near Chepstow, was invited on to the programme, with the UK’s top female show jumper Ellen Whitaker, to talk about Olympia, The London International Horse Show, which celebrates its centenary this year.

However, in the middle of the interview Alan unexpectedly presented him with the award.
David said: “It was a complete surprise, but it’s lovely to be seen as a national treasure.”

David still commentates at Olympia each year. You can see him receiving his award on Alan Titchmarsh Show on ITV1 on 18 December at 3pm.
