Laura Kraut: A round of applause for Bolesworth [H&H VIP]

  • We have been coming here (to Bolesworth International) for at least five years and the transformation has been incredible.

For Nina [Barbour] and her team to have taken Bolesworth from a lovely country horse show to an international show of this level has been a great undertaking, and one that should be appreciated by all.

From the competitors’ viewpoint the international ring is second to none — it’s not only picturesque, it’s a perfect size. The footing is fantastic and the natural amphitheatre provides ideal viewing for all.

One thing that is clear is the attention to detail and the skill of turning this equestrian event into an enjoyable few days.

The social activities, including reception parties, auction and the Scouting For Girls concert, kept everyone entertained throughout the weekend.

At the business end, the four-star jumping has been a pleasure to compete in, and this calibre of competition can only boost the level of showjumping in England.

Since Bolesworth upgraded this year we have certainly seen a rise of international fixtures in this country.

And while the international classes seem to attract most attention, Nina has not forgotten the local and national competitors. A full programme offers classes for novice and experienced horses and riders.

All in all, my students and I were very impressed with Bolesworth and I feel we’ve all benefited from competing here.

I would not hesitate to recommend Bolesworth International to any rider or owner as part of their schedule for 2016.
