World number one showjumper Scott Brash has received an Olympic Athlete of the Year honour.
The accolade, from the British Olympic Association (BOA), has been bestowed on 35 athletes that the association believes deserve recognition for their performances over 2013.
“I would like to congratulate each and every athlete who has been named as the BOA Olympic Athlete of the Year, as well as the performance directors, coaches and national governing body personnel who have helped these athletes in making 2013 another successful year”, said the BOA’s Bill Sweeney.
Scott had a stellar 2013, winning team gold and individual bronze at the European Championships in Denmark in August.
He also won the Global Champions Tour final in Doha in November and knocked fellow Brit Ben Maher off the top spot to become number one showjumper in the world.
Iain Graham of British Showjumping added: “We are delighted Scott has been recognised by the BOA as he has continued his outstanding Olympic form throughout 2013, providing the sport and his team of supporters many memorable results on the world stage”.
