Rider withdraws from British WEG squad
Izzy Taylor and her ride Allercombe Ellie have been withdrawn from the British eventing squad for this summer’s Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG).
“Due to a minor set-back during training, the horse will not be available for the Games,” said a statement from the British Equestrian Federation (BEF).
“It’s very disappointing,” Izzy told H&H. “But that’s horses. I wish the team the best of luck in Normandy.”
The BEF added that a replacement combination will be announced “in due course”
The remaining squad members are:
Tina Cook with Jim Chromiak and her own De Novo News
William Fox-Pitt with Christopher Stone’s Chilli Morning
Never miss out on the latest happenings in the equestrian world
Pippa Funnell with Jonathan and Jane Clarke’s Billy Beware
Zara Phillips with Gleadhill House Stud Ltd’s High Kingdom
Oliver Townend with Karyn Shuter’s Black Tie II
Reserves have not yet been confirmed, but H&H believes it is likely that selectors are deciding whether to send Izzy on the Bramham runner-up Orlando or to call up Harry Meade (Wild Lone) or Gemma Tattersall (Arctic Soul), who have both tweeted that they are reserves.
