Popular commentator Sarah Rouse has died

  • Equestrian commentator Sarah Rouse has died. She was in her mid-50s and had been suffering from motor neurone disease.

Sarah, who was forced to retire in May 2012 because of her illness, had been a popular showjumping and light and heavy horse commentator for many years on the county circuit.

She officiated at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) and commentated at many events in the south of England.

“Her commentaries on whatever subject were always well prepared and delivered with enthusiasm and fun, and she will be missed by the many who knew her,” said commentator Mike Tucker.

Her funeral will be on 24 January at Chichester Cathedral, starting 11.30am.

This story first appeared in H&H in the 16 January 2014 issue.
