Police horsebox breaks down on motorway
A horsebox carrying four police horses from the West Yorkshire Mounted Section broke down forcing a major M62 slip road to be temporarily closed last Saturday (12 July).
The horses — Francis, Breeze, Marley and Ledston — were returning from duty after the Huddersfield carnival when the lorry was forced to stop at Chain Bar roundabout.
The eastbound slip road towards Leeds had to be closed to allow the horses to be loaded on to the reserve horsebox.
“The horses were transferred to another vehicle and on their way by 9.15pm,” said a spokesman from the West Yorkshire police.
According to the @WYPHorses twitter feed, it took less than 5min to transfer the horses onto the recovery box and they all returned to their stables safe and well.
