More than £10,000 of tack stolen from dressage yard
Dressage rider and trainer Sarah Turner is urging other owners to beware after her yard was burgled last week. More than £10,000 worth of tack was taken, including saddles, bridles and leather head collars.
The rider’s yard in Chelmsford, Essex, was broken into overnight.
“It happened between the hours of about 10pm on Wednesday 21 May when the horses had their late check and 8am on Thursday 22 May,” she told H&H.
“Essex Police visited the yard, but there was no trace of evidence and nothing has been recovered so far. Between £10,000 and £12,000 worth of tack was taken including things of sentimental value, such as a saddle that was my 21st birthday present from my parents.”
She believes the thieves came across 2 fields to reach the yard before smashing through 2 doors with an empty gas bottle.
“Fortunately our horses are fine, but it makes me sick to the stomach as to how anyone could do this,” she added.
