Somerset farmers affected by the floods have been given a helping hand by Dengie Horse Feeds. The company dispatched a large articulated lorry of much-needed forage to the county last week.
The hay and alfalfa was grown by Dengie farmers and is a type suited for cattle feed.
“We were extremely saddened to see the terrible situation in Somerset and wanted to do something to help,” said Dengie’s Michael Pudney.
“As farmers ourselves, we understand the difficulties that are now being faced as pasture has been destroyed and stocks of haylage and silage ruined.”
Larges swathes of grassland in Somerset still remain under water, while others have been reduced to acres of mud.
