The final day of the Baileys Horse Feeds/British Equestrian Federation/British Breeding (BEF) Futurity took place at Solihull Riding Club on 28 August. 7 youngsters were awarded elite premiums.
James Crawford’s black KWPN Charmeur/Sir Sinclair filly foal Ifrica (pictured) headed the entries at Solihull 2 with an elite premium score of 9.27. The evaluators commented that this dressage foal has “an active, engaged, uphill trot and a good ground covering canter with her hocks well underneath her”.
This is the first dressage foal James, who own the semen agency Elite Stallions, has bred.
Another dressage foal, Happy Days (Hotline/Londonderry) was awarded an elite of 9.25. The evaluators praised his “well proportioned build and powerful quarters”.
Silvester offspring shine
Eventing colt foal Kuwait Silver (Silvester/Kuwait Beach) achieved an elite premium of 9.16 for owner/breeder Hazel Offord, who also stands Silvester at stud.
The evaluators commented: “He has good swinging strides in the walk, and the canter showed a good change of pace with acceleration and balance.”
The Greenacres Stud in Derbyshire bred and own showjumping colt foal Greenacres Cola Zingo (Cola Zero x Caletto II). He earned an elite premium of 9.15 and comments about him focussed on good activity, engagement, freedom, and ground cover in his trot.
Showjumping filly foal Secret Engagement (Diarado/Sir Shutterfly) scored an elite premium of 9.09 for Philip Tuckwell and S Phelps from Tetbury. The evaluators were impressed by her “well muscled topline and good set of her neck”.
Another Silvester offspring, Midday Cowboy (Silvester/Zenturio), scored an elite premium of 9.00, also in the showjumping section. This colt foal is owned by breeder Katarina Burden of the WG Stud in Blackthorn, Oxfordshire.
Merna Merret’s home-bred 3-year-old gelding, Trewardale (Grafenstolz/Trecarne) took home an elite premium of 9.00. This potential eventer received evaluator comments about his “athletic frame, good balance between limb and body and well defined saddle position”.
