Rebecca Philpot

H&H chief sub editor

Rebecca is the chief sub-editor at Horse & Hound. She is an experienced journalist and editor, as well as a dedicated rider and horse owner. She joined the Horse & Hound editorial team in 2023, having already worked in the equestrian media for more than a decade.

Rebecca began her career reporting for titles including Showing World and The Native Pony magazines, before going on to become the editor of Horse&Rider. She has a specialist interest in the showing circuit, having reported from major championships including the Royal International Horse Show, Horse of the Year Show, London International Horse Show and Royal Windsor.

Bitten by the “horsey bug” at a local riding school aged nine, Rebecca brings to her work a lifelong passion for all things equestrian. Having competed in showing, eventing, and showjumping, she has spent much of her career interviewing the industry’s top riders and leading figures – exploring their training techniques, philosophies, and what makes them, and their horses, tick.

As a horse owner for more than 20 years, Rebecca has an interest in sharing the latest advice in equine care and management with conscientious owners. She owns Tango, an ex-polo pony. While originally destined to become an ambitious amateur’s all-rounder, veterinary complications ended his ridden career, and he now enjoys living out on a retirement yard in the New Forest.
