It’s crunch time: walk the 2017 Burghley showjumping course that could make or break dreams

  • Today (3 September) is showjumping day at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. Thirteen fences, and 16 jumping efforts sit between horses and riders and their Burghley completion.

The course, designed by Richard Jeffery, is built to a maximum height of 1.30m with spreads no wider than 1.65m. The course is 560m in length and time allowed is 90 seconds, which means riders have to travel at a speed of 375m/min.

The first session of showjumping gets underway at 11am, with the top 24 riders jumping in reverse order from 2.25pm.

Take a look around the course to see what horses and riders will face…
