But the feat he pulled off at Blair was a first, as he managed to put his horse’s bridle back on during his showjumping round.

Lissa Green’s plans to follow in her mother’s footsteps by competing at her first Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials were scuppered at the last minute.

The 28-year-old, daughter of eventing legend Lucinda Green, was at the event with her 15-year-old ride Malin Head Clover when she broke the news that he was going to be unable to compete.

Natasha Jane Waller, of Ashby Road, Shepshed, was found guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to her horse Maisie, at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on 18 August.

    Warning, upsetting pictures…

Two riders fell when their horses were spooked by a tractor which failed to slow down, in an “entirely avoidable” incident.

Emma Heron’s horse trod on her ankle and Adele Horsley’s head landed “inches from the tractor tyre” on a road in Cumbria.

‘It was silly to be going that fast’…

Michael Eilberg – Half Moon Dynasty

Michael Eilberg has paid tribute to the “amazing” grand prix mare Half Moon Dynasty.

The talented thirteen-year-old owned by Jon and Julie Deverill was put down after a serious accident out hacking.

    ‘It was so sudden’…

    HOYS entries John Whitaker

John Whitaker has made a winning return to competition following his fall this month.

The showjumping star was injured in a fall from Cassinis Chaplin at the Longines Global Champions Tour of London on 5 August.
