‘He could have won at Royal Ascot with his gallop’: Ladies Man claims Royal International riding horse spoils

Jayne Ross and Ladies Man claimed the De La Hey Family BSHA supreme riding horse sash at the 2026 Agria Royal International Horse Show (RIHS), with the talented bay continuing his remarkable rise through the ranks.

The 10-year-old, by Tiger Attack out of Looking Glass, is bred and owned by Danni Radford and qualified for the supreme showdown after winning the De La Hey Family BSHA small riding horse final.

Previously shown extremely successfully as an intermediate – he won here and at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) – and as a hack, 2025 marked his first full season as a riding horse, during which he was champion at Royal Windsor and finished reserve champion at HOYS.

"I’m delighted," said Jayne. "He's a lovely horse and always gives everything. When he went into that main ring he really lifted, went up two gears and showed exactly what he's capable of. He loves a crowd and a big occasion.

"He's a real family horse,” Jayne explained. “Danni’s three-year-old daughter sits on him and plays with him at home, but then he can go into the ring and perform like he did today. He went in with the mindset to win.

"Winning Horse of the Year Show last year was incredibly special, but we finished reserve, so to come and win the championship here today is just amazing."

Jayne believes the gelding's performance in the International Arena made the difference.

"He's been in that main ring before as an intermediate, but never as a riding horse. Today he really lowered, galloped and covered the ground. The judge said he looked like he could have won at Royal Ascot with his gallop, and I think that really won him the supreme.”

Reversing the HOYS showdown and repeating the 2025 Windsor championship results, reserve here went to Vicky Smith aboard eight-year-old Tremarl Timpani for the second year on the bounce. Vicky and the eight-year-old owned by her breeder Jane Davies won the large division.
