Tim Davies takes HOYS ticket at Unex Towerlands

  • Tim Davies and Salome II took a return ticket to the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) after heading the seven-year-olds at Unex Towerlands. The other two Birmingham places went to
Stuart Harvey on Catalca Z and James Billington with Carlingfords Fiction.

After a marathon competition in the six-year-old qualifier, 28 shared the double clear honours and gained maximum points towards a HOYS appearance.

As befits a show billed as a young horse festival, there were classes each day for four- and five-year-olds. Five four-year-olds jumped double clear to share their honours. Laura Renwick took the five-year-old class riding Vernon G, ahead of Matt Lanni on Valentaire O.

Towerlands proved a good show for the Renwicks, who missed the middle day to pay a flying visit to Devon County. John won a B and C on Twister, while Laura and John took the top two places in Friday’s 1.25m open with Perfect and Cushty.

Matt Lanni also enjoyed a lucrative show, going home £800 richer after heading both 1.40m classes on the mare Pepper.
