Robert Smith flies the flag for GB


  • Robert Smith is the sole British rider to qualify for theWorld Cup show jumping final in Las Vegas at Easter.

    Robert will take his top rides Mr Springfield and Marius Claudius (pictured), bringing them back in time for the British Open at Sheffield (24 – 27 April).

    The last of the WesternEuropean League’s 15 qualifiers took place last weekend in Sweden, at the end of which Switzerland’s Markus Fuchs led.

    Eight Germans are through to the final, but Belgian qualifier Jos Lansink has relinquished his place to prepare his horses for other competitions.

    Meanwhile, World Champion Dermott Lennon, who is among those due to travel to Sheffield, sustained a cracked shoulder bone after Liscalgot fell at the qualifier in Gothenburg.
