Nick Skelton awarded OBE in The Queen’s birthday honours
Top British showjumper Nick Skelton has been awarded an OBE in The Queen’s birthday honours list.
Nick was today (Saturday 16 June) made an OBE for services to equestrian sport.
“I’m very honoured, it’s a great recognition,” Nick told H&H.
“It feels magnificent and I hope it will be good for showjumping too.”
The 54-year-old, has been enjoying a successful year with horses Big Star and Carlo.
Nick has represented Britain at six Olympic Games and is now aiming at London this summer.
Also honoured was Ros Spearing, founder of Ebony Horse Club, who was made an MBE for services to young people in South London.

Liz Nelson of Whitcombe Monymusk Racing Stables in Dorchester was awarded the MBE for services to charity. Mrs Nelson is a member of the Fox Pitt Eventing Partnership that owns William Fox Pitt’s Oslo.
And chief executive of Stubbing Court Training, Belinda Turner, was an appointed MBE for services to training in the equestrian industry.
Diana Monier-Williams, a lifelong supporter of the Meynell & South Staffordshire Hunt was awarded an MBE for services to charity and four Riding for the disabled Association volunteers – Ro Pudden, Mary Axford, Barbara Johnstone and Annette Dorsey – were also awarded the MBE.
