Malin wins Christmas Stakes
Sweden’s Olympic team silver medallist Malin Baryard-Johnsson won the Moondarra Christmas Stakes at Olympia last night.
Baryard-Johnsson, 30, who gave birth to a son earlier this year, outpaced some of the world’s top show jumpers to finish first in the £9,000 purse competition.
A 17-strong jump off saw Britain’s Michael Whitaker and Portofino taking an early lead. But the draw worked to his disadvantage when he was overtaken by Malin Baryard-Johnsson and Butterfly Flip.
A speedy round from Germany’s Markus Beerbaum earned him second place leaving Whitaker and Portofino in third.
