Billy Twomey and Denis Lynch on quest for Olympic qualification

  • Irish showjumping’s battle for Olympic qualification continues this weekend in Zurich.

Billy Twomey, based in Cheshire, and Tipperary’s Denis Lynch will be aiming to secure individual Olympic places when competing at the World Cup show Switzerland, this weekend (28-29 January).

After finishing fourth in the World Cup class at Leipzeig on Sunday (22 January) Billy now heads the unofficial Olympic qualification table, while Denis is close behind in second.

Ireland failed to qualify a team for this summer’s Olympics, but the country hopes to qualify individual riders.

The pair need to accrue more points this weekend to attempt to secure one of the three slots available.

Their success will be determined by the FEI world rankings as they stand on 1 March.
