You can visit top racehorse trainers’ yards
Open days in Malton and Newmarket give fans the chance to see their favourite racehorses.
Racing fans have two opportunities to visit yards in major training centres in the next couple of months.
On Sunday, 25 August more than 20 trainers will be opening their doors to the public at Malton’s open day in North Yorkshire. These include Tim Easterby, David O’Meara and Richard Fahey.
There will also be a variety of other attractions, including demonstrations, a parade of the Grand National winner Auroras Encore, and a not-to-be-missed question and answer session with John Francome, David Elsworth and Jack Berry.
And the Newmarket open day takes place on Sunday, 22 September. Visitors will have the chance to see the yards of some of the country’s top Flat trainers, including Luca Cumani, Ed Dunlop and James Fanshawe.
Many of the racing facilities in the Suffolk town will be open, such as the British Racing School and the Jockey Club Rooms, while later in the day there is entertainment on the Rowley Mile racecourse, including a five-a-side jockeys and trainers football match, mounted games and scurry driving.
