The world of racing is gearing up for its big night out at the London Hilton on 14 April when 10 awards will be presented to the best jockeys of the year
The horseracing website, attheraces.co.uk, and Channel 4 are to sponsor the jockey’s big annual awards, The Lesters, for the next three years.
There are 10 awards in total, ranging from the flat and jump jockeys of the year to prizes for the best lady jockey, rides of the year as well as for best youngsters starting out in the sport.
Most of the Lesters are awarded according to votes cast by the jockeys themselves.
David Brook, director of strategy and sport for Channel 4, said: “For the majority of viewers of Channel 4 racing, the jockeys are the stars of the show and we are delighted to be able to thank and reward them through our support of this very special evening.
The website, attheraces, provides live audio and video links to49 racecourses round the country. It hopes to be launching a digital channel and phone service.
Marketing director, Gavin Bisdee, said: ” We are glad to have this opportunity to demonstrate attheraces’ support and investment in the industry and its sportsmen.
There are still tickets available at £105 for the Lesters night at the Hilton, Park Lane in London on 14th April.
