Horse lovers have helped The Blue Cross to raise more than £6,000 this year by supporting a series of shows and open days at the equine welfare centre at Burford, Oxfordshire.
Show jumping and dressage events were held over the summer, pulling in a collective £1,000, while the annual Blue Cross Horse Show raised more than £5,000.
Kate Gloyn, acting centre manager at Burford said: “We thoroughly enjoy running these shows and events and it’s so rewarding to get such a high attendance rate.
“All the money raised goes to help with the rehabilitation, retraining and rehoming of the needy horses and ponies in our care, which is an excellent motivating factor for many of the competitors.
“Next year we will be introducing an additional show jumping ring and also hope to add an unaffiliated one day event to the schedule, especially for novice riders.”
