Sheikh supports horse sports


  • Dubai is set to stage its second equestrian trade show in the run up to its World Cup, as interest in equestrian sports rises

    Latest figures from the United Arab Emirates show a big increase in the popularity of equine sports.

    “Thoroughbred and Arab racing are the main sports, but endurance racing is also very popular as are show jumping, eventing and polo, ” said Nick Webb, spokesman for the Equestrian Trade Show which is taking place in Dubai from 20-22 March.

    The show will take place at the Nad Al Sheba racecourse just before the Dubai World Cup, said to be the richest race in the world.

    Nick said exhibitors are expected from all over the world,including the UK with stands from stud farms from England, Ireland and the USA. There are also expected to be some equestrian demonstrations.

    The show is run under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with support from the Dubai Racing Club, the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation and the Emirates Racing Association.
