A new racey romp through the eventing world has been released just in time for this year’s Badminton Horse Trials (21-25 April)
Kiss and Tell by Fiona Walker is a tale of “tight breeches and loose morals”.
“Eventing makes a superb backdrop for fiction as it features so many dashing men and attractive girls — galloping through glorious English estates by day and partying in the lorry park by night,” Fiona told H&H.
Kiss and Tell stars a blue-ribbon eventing couple, Tash and Hugo Beauchamp, whose marriage is threatened when rival event rider, bad-boy Kiwi World Champion Lough Strachen, challenges upper-class daredevil Hugo in love as well as in the saddle.
“Action moves between all the world’s great four-stars as well as the UK and European circuit, with lots of familiar settings including a dramatic ride-off at Badminton when rivalry between the two men is at its peak,” said Fiona.
“There’s plenty of laughter mixed in with the high drama, because I’ve always found event riders, trials organisers and their support teams have such a glorious sense of fun.”
Fiona, who has written ten other novels including Well Groomed, runs an equestrian centre in Warwickshire.
“I’ve grown up around horses, and keep a lovely ex-eventer as a mother’s hack at home in Worcestershire. I live with dressage coach Sam Twyman who teaches schoolmaster lessons at Dovecote Stables,” she added.
Kiss and Tell was published earlier this month and costs £7.99
