Go racing online
12 December 2001
A new website has been designed to make you feel “at the races” without leaving the comfort of your own home
Racing enthusiasts can stay in touch with all the action from 49 racecourses around the UK via a new website launched this week.
www.attheraces.co.uk carries live video and audio from courses including Ascot, Epsom, Cheltenham, Aintree, Newmarket and Newbury. Pool betting is available, with fixed-odds bookmakers expected to join the site in the new year.
As well as advice from top tipsters, latest weather reports and the ability to set up your own top ten horses to follow, the site also includes a “funlounge” where you can test your racing knowledge in a daily quiz.
Attheraces plc, which is jointly-owned by Channel 4 Television, BSkyB and Arena Leisure, also intends to launch a live interactive digital television channel, which should be available on Sky Digital in May 2002.
