Girl power hits the polo field

Stars from the catwalk and the silver screen will be among the players in The Perrier-Jout Womens World Polo Championships at Ascot Park Polo Club this week.

The championships, which arebeing held under the banner of the International Women’s Polo Association, will see top international female polo players riding alongside supermodel Jodie Kidd and Hollywood actress Stefanie Powers.

Caroline Anier of France and the UK’s Victoria Grace will be playing alongside Jodie and Stephanie in the Perrier-Jout team. While other top players include Mumy Bellande of Argentina (American Airlines), Sarah Gomf of the USA (RCM & D) and Rowena Murray-Gross of Kenya (Altamira).

Thechampionships are being held to raise money for the childrens’ charity SPARKS (Sport Aiding Medical Research for Kids), which is dedicated to giving every child a healthy start in life.

Preliminary rounds for the tournament start today (Tuesday 24 July) and continue until Thursday 26 July with the gala finals on Saturday 28 July starting at 10.00am.
