B&B for horses

  • The British Horse Society is looking for anyone with a spare field or stable to offer bed and breakfast for holidaymakers with horses

If you have a spare field, paddock, or stable and would like to offer a B&B service for equines, you can still be included in the British Horse Society’s Bed and Breakfast for Horses.

Due to overwhelming demand, the BHS has extended its deadline for proprietors wishing to have an entry in their ninth edition of the popular publication, which has sold more than 15,000 copies.

Bed and Breakfast for Horses is an invaluable reference guide for riders trekking around Britain on long distance rides, taking their horse on holiday or for competitors needing accommodation for their horse while competing.

Fran Donnelly from the BHS Access and Rights of Way department said: “Bed and Breakfast for Horses is a unique publication offeringriders and drivers the opportunity to travel nationwide safe in the knowledge that their host will not only give them a warm welcome, but will be sympathetic to their equestrian needs.”

This year the BHS would also like to include horse-friendly pubs, which provide hitching rails and have a clean supply of fresh water for any riders and their horses that want to stop for lunch.

The cost for anyone wishing to be included in the 2002 edition is £35. For an additional £20 the entry will also be placed on the BHS RIDE UK website www.ride-uk.org.uk. This site is dedicated to riding routes all over the UK.

Closing date for entries is the end of August, ready for publication in October, anyone wishing to an entry should contact the Access Department at the British Horse Society (tel: 08701 202244).
