All set for final AHS meetings

  • Arab enthusiasts can look forward to the final AHS race meeting of the season, while entries are up on last year for the Salisbury Plain marathon

The final flat race meeting of the season for the Arab Horse Society will be held at Goodwood Racecourse on Saturday, 29 September.

The society gave financial assistance to the British under-21 endurance team that travelled to Spain for the recent World Championships and it has invited the four team members, Anna Welch, Sam Oakes, Vicky Brown and Anna Williams, to parade at the meeting and stage a “canter past” in front of the grandstand.

The meeting promises a day of exciting racing, with the first race at 1.30pm, and there will also be a parade of mares and foals, and a brass band.

The final AHS ridden event of the year will be the marathon, being held for the second year on Salisbury Plain, on 21 October.

Entries are expected to exceed last year’s numbers and three members of the under-21 endurance team will be competing, the pure-bred stallion Khairho and two part-bred mares, Simply Chloe and Diamond Dynasty.
