$1m win for Devos in Spruce Meadows Masters

  • The $1,000,000 CN International at the Spruce Meadows Masters was won by 27-year-old Belgian rider Pieter Devos with Candy. He produced the only double clear of the competition to collect the $335,000 first prize.

“To win here is unbelievable,” said Pieter, who finished ahead of the Olympic champion Steve Guerdat (Nasa) and France’s Penelope Leprevost (Nayana) in third.

“It’s my first time here in Spruce Meadows but it’s a hell of an experience — you don’t get a feeling like this anywhere else.”

This victory means Pieter Devos can now bid for the €1million Rolex Grand Slam bonus if he goes on to win the grands prix at Geneva and Aachen.

Ben Maher was best of the Brits in the CN International, finishing 7th on his team European gold medal-winning ride Cella.
