William Fox-Pitt has won the inaugural Horse & Hound advanced eventing league. He picked up a massive 536 points from top three placings at advanced, CIC***, CCI*** and CCI**** classes during the season.
The league, which is supported by Land Rover, got underway at Chatsworth in the spring and finished with the final advanced classes of the year at Burnham Market.
Andrew Nicholson was second, narrowly ahead of Oliver Townend. The two riders had been swapping positions throughout the second half of the season, with Andrew pushing Oli down into third after Blenheim. Oli made a late charge by finishing second and third at Burnham Market, but it wasn’t quite enough to regain second place.
The H&H readers’ fantasy eventing competition running alongside the league proved extremely popular, with four individuals correctly predicting the order of the top three riders. Congratulations go to Karen Hanks of Wootton Bassett, Louise Burnage of Winkleigh, Lesley Ryall of Stroud and Fiona Charman of London, who have each won a day’s off-road driving with Land Rover, plus a free subscription to Horse & Hound for a year.
