William Fox-Pitt adds new advanced eventer to his string

  • William Fox-Pitt has a new advanced ride, the nine-year-old Trakehner Seacookie, formerly ridden by German team member Ingrid Klimke.

David Witt bought the Marbach CIC*** winner as a present for his wife, Catherine. The Witts have horses with various riders, but Seacookie is their first with William, whom they met when they bought his ride Mr Dumbledore in 2006.

William tried Seacookie in the autumn and he arrived at the rider’s Dorset yard on 21 December.

“I don’t anticipate riding in Hong Kong but we wanted him in British ownership by the end of the year [a requirement for horses who do compete for Britain at the Olympics],” said William.

“He’s a super horse and is a very useful addition to my string. We’ll take the beginning of the season to get to know each other with no pressure and no big goals in the short term.”
