Tougher cross-country at Gatcombe

  • Course-designer Capt Mark Phillips has made “significant changes” to the cross-country courses for this year’s Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe (5-7 August), which will see leading riders in the sport competing for the top prizes.

The changes include a new-look water complex at the Hunter Dewpond, and the Horses in Sport Steps, a slope down to a bigger, single step on an angle replacing the top two steps which have finally succumbed to old age after more than 20 years.

Horse & Hound’s sister magazine, Eventing, is to be a supporting sponsor at the Festival, which is the next event in BE’s new seven-strong Premier League of top events. HHO users can receive a £2 discount on the daily gate price of tickets by clicking here >> to buy tickets in advance.

Anyone visiting the event, should take time out from watching the action to visit stand 35a for subscription offers on Horse & Hound, Eventing and HORSE magazine, as well a chance to win a rug wardrobe from FAL Pro and a Barnsby magnetic bridle.
