Aske Hall Horse Trials

  • Julie Lawson’s Howecot Psammite made a spectacular return to the eventing scene when claiming victory in the open intermediate at Aske Hall Horse Trials.

Taking the runner-up spot was Nicola Wilson (née Tweddle) with her own and Lady Milnes Coates’s Mr Nickleby.

In intermediate section B, Heidi Woodhead and DHI Topper W took first place by just 0.3 of a penalty, ahead of Bianca Bairstow and Macryan Diamond Paddy. Heidi also picked up third in the other intermediate section with Classic Chillout.

Oliver Townend won the remaining intermediate with ODT Mouse. Filling second place were Grace Macrae and Porthill Rusty Nail.

Even the old turf parkland of Aske Hall could not survive the deluge of rain overnight on Saturday. When the organisers arrived on Sunday to see ducks on the newly formed lake in the show jumping collecting ring, they cancelled the second day’s classes.
