Scotland celebrates its dressage stars


  • Scottish & Northern Equestrian Championships

    Carly Taylor Smith and Onino were crowned medium champions at the Scottish and Northern Equestrian Championships at Devon Equestrian Centre, Alloa, reports Hilary Mactaggart. The pair also won the medium winter qualifier.

    Jayne Ritchie won the prix st georges championship with her 17.3hh Akkord gelding Akkropolis, who also took the intermediaire I. Jo Barry and Mibikus were advanced medium champions and also headed the advanced medium winter qualifier.

    Diana Zajda rode her former international event horse Chablis II to head the elementary winter qualifier. Erik Mackechnie was runner-up on Kay Gebbie’s Branston, also winner of the novice championship.

    The elementary championship was won by Charlotte Robertson with Wild Thyme, who were also medium training victors. The restricted medium winter qualifier went to Jennifer Johnston and Donnergott.

    Louise Richards and Hampton’s Ace emerged as prelim champions, with a hat trick of prelim wins, including the winter qualifier.

    Kingswood Equestrian Centre

    Kate Atlee won three of the four classes at Kingswood, Staffs, reports Jo Prestwich. The wins at advanced medium and advanced 100 came with Sarah Outwin’s Lochness. Kate also took the medium on her own Gribaldi gelding, Stein.

    Tracy Tomlinson finished first and second in the prix st georges/intermediaire I and II pick-a-test with her own Faberge II and Penny Stern’s Westpoint Fabriano.

    Patchetts Equestrian Centre

    Former advanced eventer Alison Trew headed two medium restricted sections at Patchetts to secure winter qualification, reports Ruth Pearce.

    Alison Berman led both elementaries on the first day and finished second in both mediums on the final day of the two-day show with her six-year-old Twister 23.

    Nicole Mellors and Canasta II led the advanced pick-a-test after riding the prix st georges. Ros Bowley led the medium qualifier on Heather Gray’s Olympic Flame.
