Germany’s Nadine Capellmann and Farbenfroh take a commanding lead after the first part of the dressage team grand prix at Aachen CDIO
Nadine Cappellman and her extravagant 12-year-old Westphalian gelding Farbenfroh are the clear leaders on a score of 75.96% after the first day’s competition at Aachen’s CDIO in Germany.
All four judges – Dieter Schler (Germany), Bernard Maurel (France), Dr Volker Moritz (Germany) and Dr Vicenzo Truppa (Italy) – had the local heroes in first place in this team and first individual qualifying competition.
Spain’s Beatriz Ferrer-Salat and Beauvalais clocked up a good score of 72.72% with Germany’s Hubertus Schmidt and Wansuela Suerte close behind in third on 71.40%.
Germany’s second team rider Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff and Renoir-Unicef are in fourth place.
Still to come however are favourites Ulla Salzgeber and Rusty, who will be looking to match their European Championship gold medal winning form of last year.
The first of the British team members -Laura Richardson and Millenium and Sandy Phillips and No Limit 5 – have made a good start scoring 67.52% and 63.40% respectively.
Britain’s Emile Faurie and Reuters Rascher Hopes and Richard Davison and Ballaseyr Royale compete in the second part of the competition today (Thursday 27 June)
